Messengers have become part of the new paradigm of digital communication, with users selecting specific sources of information instead of seeking out information in the general information flow. Private chats both for personal and professional conversations as well as channels making posts with a specific focus all represent alternatives to the traditional social network model and are more natural for most people. Mark Zuckerberg compared the two models to a town square and a private living room. Today, users increasingly prefer knowing who is reading their posts, which is easier to do when talking to people you know in a private space instead of shouting over the noise in a busy street.
