The company's latest project provides an innovative approach to e-waste.
The Lime company is engaged in the production and rental of electric bicycles. They have been working in collaboration with Gomi and have discovered an excellent use for used batteries. As it turns out, they can be repurposed and made into an ideal base for Bluetooth speakers.
After cleaning and testing the old batteries, they are given a new lease of life. The speaker casing is produced from recycled plastic, which is durable and extremely cheap. The test batch contained 1,000 speakers that could work for up to 20 hours on a single charge. Starting this fall, you will have the opportunity to buy the speaker for $180.
