Major drone manufacturer DJI celebrated its 15th anniversary. In honour of its anniversary, the company has just released a sports multicopter equipped with a virtual reality headset.
The device is referred to as FPV. According to the company, it’s able not only to fly quickly but also hover in the air. The drone also has excellent acceleration and braking performance. The device weighs 795 grams, and its dimensions are 255 x 312 x 127 mm.
When wearing the virtual reality headset, the user will feel like an actual pilot. The drone can broadcast a video stream in HD quality at 60 frames per second. The visibility range is 10km, and the viewing angle is 142°. The latter may be increased by reducing the broadcast speed. The commands are carried out with a delay of 28-40 milliseconds, and the drone possesses a top speed of 100 to 140 km/h. In group mode, up to eight people can watch the video simultaneously.
The drone features three control modes: A beginner’s mode, complete with an obstacle warning function, a full manual mode, and a sports mode. The device determines its location by GPS. The alarm button makes it simple to return the device to the initial point of take-off. The FPV is priced at $1299. Additionally, spare batteries, chargers, and a one-handed controller are also available to buy.
