The Chinese media have announced Beijing's plans to build a research base on the Earth’s satellite within the next decade, according to spokespersons for the Chinese National Space Agency.
China has steadfastly worked on its space programme for a long time and these efforts are beginning to bear fruit. In early 2019, for example, the Celestial Empire became the first country to soft-land a probe on the far side of the Moon.
China will not stop at that and is currently planning to build a full-fledged research base in the South of the Moon already in the next decade. Zhang Kejian, the head of the China National Space Administration has announced these plans.
To date, China is second only to the United States in terms of space expenditures, spending, according to international organisations, over $8.4 billion annually. Below is a video clip by one of the most reputable Chinese media outlets about the Celestial Empire's achievements in conquering extraterrestrial space.
