Boston Dynamics robots are famously high-tech, but most of them still have a long way to go before they can be integrated into the economy. The company has recently purchased a startup called Kinema Systems, which might completely change the current situation.
The purchase of Kinema Systems by Boston Dynamics might become the company’s best investment in many years, since the startup’s 3D vision technology could aid in the full-fledged integration of robots into the real world.
Kinema Systems is a startup based in Menlo Park, California, focused on deep machine learning technology to develop comprehensive robotic vision. By purchasing the company, Boston Dynamics gains access to all of the technology developed by Kinema Systems.
In other words, the robot manufacturer will finally have access to software that could make their machines more practical, efficient and fully independent. This will result in an increase in demand for robots, so we might witness a new tech boom in the near future.
