Audi to invest € 14 billion in electric cars with autopilot

Volkswagen is aggressively developing a strategy for the transition from hydrocarbon fuel to electricity. By 2025, the Group of companies plans to supply the market with up to 3 million fully electric cars annually. By that time, about 80 new models from Volkswagen AG’s brands should appear, including 50 fully electric models. The Concern will spend over €50 billion to buy batteries for new cars alone.

The recently presented crossover Audi e-tron has elicited great interest in the press and the industry. The Company will now invest another € 14 billion in the development of new electric cars and autopilot systems.

Over the next five years, the Company will spend a total of about € 40 billion in this field.

By 2025, Audi intends to produce 20 electrified models with about half of them fully electric.

AUDI AG’s interim CEO Bram Schot said that the company had a clear plan on how to approach the transition to electric cars in a systemic way to make new products attractive as futuristic novelties and relevant to the market at the same time.

The Company has recently introduced two more concepts for its electric cars: the e-tron Sportback version and the e-tron GT.
