Now you can turn almost anything into a touchscreen, by merely putting Protospray on top of any necessary surface.
Scientists from Bristol University in the UK have been developing ProtoSpray technology based upon their earlier developments. It enables you to spray a touch screen on any surface.
The full flexibility of the practical application of the spray is shown in the demo video, which demonstrates just how various objects are turned into a touch screen. The creators would like to change the way people think about everyday items that are familiar to us.
The secret of the technology starts with an evenly spread layer of electroluminescent ink and a substrate printed on a 3D printer with electrodes connected to it. When electric currents are delivered via these wires, the painted surface lights up and starts to respond to touch.
It’s possible to use this technology in many different ways. For example, to build a system of illuminated signposts in various public spaces or to even help open doors.
