The Company hopes to make the model more customer attractive by reducing production costs, and, consequently, the final price.
Volkswagen believes that the new MEB platform to manufacture low-priced electric vehicles is not just a trendy modern solution, but also a profitable step. Moreover, this approach has already started to pay off. For example, the production of the new ID.3 electric car has become less expensive, which means that it will be more affordable for consumers.
One of the ID.3 disadvantages was its price. However, thanks to the process optimization, Volkswagen promises that ID.3 will be 40% cheaper than e-Golf.
In the case of e-Golf, the engineers simply reworked the car’s gasoline version. Now, however, the entire production line will, from the outset be geared towards electricity.
It is a lower production cost that can become a powerful driver for electric cars advance. It is also a way for Volkswagen to reassure the investors who are concerned that their revenues might fall.
The ID.3 model production is already launched at the company's Zwickau factory.
