The novelty will allow eliminating interaction between the seller and the buyer, which is especially important in a pandemic.
The supermarket Kroger in Madeira has hired an unusual employee – an innovative grocery cart. The built-in tablet guides the customers around the store helping them with product locations and answering basic questions. The shopping list is formed thanks to computer vision. Also, the device has integrated scales and a card reader for payment.
Of course, you won't be able to purchase alcoholic beverages or cigarettes with this cart, you will have to go to a real cashier. Another issue is the security of the device as an unscrupulous buyer may easily deceive the gadget and not pay for an item. This could be prevented by using cameras in the store.
