The main sponsor and organiser of the tournament was Gravity Industries, a company founded by inventor Richard Browning.
Dubai hosted a competition in a new sport—speedway racing on jetpacks. The event involved 8 athletes who had undergone the necessary training. Every competitor was given a jetpack weighing 26 kg and 15 litres of fuel, enough for 9 minutes of flight. The jetpack from Gravity is equipped with 7 jet engines with a total power of 1060 hp, which allows you to accelerate up to 128 km/h. The cost of such a device is $400,000.
The competition route was over water and outlined by 5-metre inflatable pylons. It was very useful because, during the competition, one of the participants failed to cope with the control and fell. The increased risk to the pilots' health and the equipment's high cost affected the competition's spectacle—it was held without much intrigue. The Briton Issa Kalfon won the race.
