Which is great news for anyone who dreamed of becoming invisible as a child.
The British company Invisibility Shield has announced the launch of a product of the same name. It consists of a curved polycarbonate shield with a transparent frame for comfort. When you're concealed behind it, any object seems to vanish, blending seamlessly with the environment.
This is feasible because the lenses on the shield's surface disperse the light reflected from an object. The impact is amplified when the user stands against a simple backdrop wearing light-coloured clothing. Regrettably, visibility remains restricted even when positioned behind the shield because the material is opaque on both sides.
This new product can be used for entertainment purposes or for watching wildlife. However, there is a chance that this technology could be relevant in the military sphere. The shield is currently available in three different sizes. The most affordable model is the smaller one at $68, the medium-sized variant costs $378, and the largest option will set you back a hefty $883.
