Steve Wozniak is one of the pioneers of the IT industry and therefore his public statements rarely go unnoticed. At the same time, the famous engineer has repeatedly changed his attitude to these or other technologies.
During a recent speech at the Nordic Business Forum, Steve Wozniak said he does not believe in Elon Musk's promises anymore. The founder of Tesla and SpaceX has long been criticized for the fact that his projects are delayed due to the announcements of new incredible ideas, like passenger rockets for flights between cities, flights to Mars, budget electric cars, and so on. At the same time, from the engineering point of view the projects are really breakthroughs and the business model chosen by Musk is not to everyone's liking.
Wozniak was disappointed with the autopilot of the Tesla Model S electric car. The company promised that by the end of 2017 its electric vehicles would be completely autonomous. However, Wozniak believes that the electric car has to be constantly monitored in autopilot mode, since it can not cope with even small obstacles.
For city trips, Steve uses a Chevy Bolt. But for long trips he has not abandoned his Model S, since Tesla has created a convenient network of its own electric stations throughout the US.
Previously, Steve Wozniak said that Tesla is likely to make a real technological breakthrough and called Elon Musk the main generator of technological ideas. But now he is disappointed that the company keeps its developments at the beta stage forever in order to, in his opinion, “reduce the responsibility for failure”.
With this in mind, according to Wozniak Musk has already gone down in history as a talented inventor. But today he plays the role of a genius seller, as was, for example, Steve Jobs.
Another disappointment of Wozniak is connected with Bitcoin. The co-founder of Apple sold all of his Bitcoins when the rate of the cryptocurrency rose to $20,000, as he was tired of following the jumps of the cryptocurrency.
Wozniak bought his Bitcoins at $700 in order to experiment with the new technology. He noted that Bitcoin is much more valuable than gold and the dollar, but he doesn't like the excessive hype around cryptocurrency.
