Electrotrichogenesis is a traditional method of hair growth stimulation using an electric field. The main disadvantage of devices based on this principle is their large dimensions. Luckily, scientists were able to create a device that is small but effective.
Electrotrichogenesis implies the stimulation of weakened hair follicles by an electric field. The devices employing this method are cumbersome, but engineers at US University of Wisconsin-Madison have managed to create a device that fits easily under a user's baseball cap and can work for a long time.
According to the developers, the device is intended solely for the prevention of baldness, and it will not be effective at later hair loss stages, the reason being that the device cannot produce new hair follicles, if a user's skin has lost them completely.
The invention has recently been tested on mice, and it is now being prepared for human tests. The experiments will take a lot of time, therefore, it will not be until a few years from now that the technology would hit the market.
