The creator of Telegram has no doubt that all vulnerabilities in WhatsApp are used by hackers. So the only way to protect yourself is to uninstall the application.
Recently, the developers of the WhatsApp messenger eliminated another serious vulnerability that allowed remote access to protected messages and files.
In connection with this news, Pavel Durov, the founder of WhatsApp’s direct competitor, Telegram, expressed his opinion on the application.
The entrepreneur calls WhatsApp similar to a Trojan horse, with which one can monitor users and receive their confidential data. Durov notes that the Facebook company, which owns the messenger, has long and fruitfully cooperated with government agencies and, so it seems, is not going to change its policy. He also recalled that he predicted new problems with WhatsApp's security in the spring.
Durov believes that Facebook is confusing its users, claiming that it has no evidence of the vulnerability's exploitation by hackers. The fact is that WhatsApp uploads most of the unencrypted messages and files to Google or Apple cloud storage, depending on the user's system, so as not to occupy space in its own data centers.
The only way to protect your data is to delete the WhatsApp application from your device, since all known vulnerabilities are definitely exploited by hackers, says Durov.
