“Mighty Buildings”- showing the way to the future of housing

3D printing has been called a disruptive technology that can dramatically transform the housing market. The startup “Mighty Buildings” clearly demonstrates that these are not just empty words.

Mighty Buildings was established this summer. Using a giant 3D printer and unique fast-curing materials, the company is building houses at an unprecedented speed. According to experts, the technology can reduce labor costs by 95%, making the construction site almost autonomous and self contained. The advantage of 3D printing over panel housing is the ability to create standard designs without having to invest in a special production line as is characteristic of prefab construction. In addition, compared to traditional construction methods, 3D printing method is much less harmful to the environment.

The goal of Mighty Buildings is to change the very approach to construction, and in order to publicize the benefits of its technology in the market, the company is always willing to demonstrate its capabilities. During the last presentation, the firm demonstrated how a 350 square feet (about 32.5 square meters) building can be brought up in less than a day. In the early stages, the company plans to combine 3D printing with the traditional methods, but subsequently it is heading towards reducing human participation in the process to a bare minimum.

Two houses from Mighty Studio have already come up in California (in San Ramon and San Diego), and for the company, this is just the beginning. Further plans include furnishing the apartments in these 2 buildings and turning them into dwelling units. The price tag for this innovative housing will vary from $ 115,000 to $ 285,000, and obviously such apartments are not for the budget conscious. However, it is still cheaper than a standard brick and mortar house. In addition, new occupants will be able to playfully claim that their family abode was “printed on a printer”.
