3D printing is considered one of the most promising technologies of our time. Having successfully tested it on Earth, people dream of using 3D printing on other planets and these dreams sometimes translate into real projects.
Mars X-House project, founded by Search + and Apis Cor, aims to use 3D printing to create homes on the Moon and Mars with everyone welcome to join the ambitious undertaking.
3D printers are expected to be deployed on space objects long before humans’ arrival to create all life-supporting infrastructures with autonomous technologies to be used for the purpose.
The companies are currently preparing for the 3D-Printed Habitat Challenge, an event to be run by NASA in May 2019. They hope to showcase their 3D printing technology, which can be applied in space.
To raise additional funding, Search + and Apis Cor have turned to Kickstarter, where anyone can support the project.
