Jaguar Land Rover’s smart steering wheel knows how to draw the driver’s attention

Most road accidents are caused by the driver's distraction. The famous car concern Jaguar Land Rover has come up with the concept of a smart steering wheel, which will prevent the driver from being distracted by irrelevant things.

Many electric devices attract the user’s attention through vibration and beeps, so the modern man has stopped reacting to these stimuli. The slightest delay in driving is fraught with serious consequences, so the company’s engineers had to devise how to alert the driver in a way that he could not ignore. As a result, the developers agreed on instant heating of steering wheel sections under the driver’s palms.

No one will fail to notice a momentary change in the steering wheel temperature by 6℃, so the attention of a car driver who has his head in the clouds will immediately switch to the road. A special sensor system will monitor whether the driver is focused on driving. Jaguar Land Rover is currently implementing this project jointly with Glasgow University. No exact timelines have been specified so far.
