The enormous animal was discovered by TV presenter Lizzie Daly. This happened when the reporter was diving in Falmouth, England.
Today, jellyfish are among the most well-documented marine dwellers. However, it appears that they are still capable of surprising us: for example, they can shock us with their dimensions.
One of these giant jellyfish was discovered by British TV presenter Lizzie Daly during a diving trip. After getting a closer look at the animal, she realized that she was facing an enormous jellyfish, whose body was even bigger than Lizzie herself! The giant was captured on camera by operator Dan Abbott. According to Dan, it was truly an ‘incredible animal’.
Scientists have identified the animal to be a barrel jellyfish, which is notorious for its large weight and dimensions: when fully grown, it can reach up to 1.5 meters in length, weighing in at 35 kg. The jellyfish eats fish and other sea inhabitants. This species is considered particularly dangerous for human beings, as its tentacles can leave multiple burns. However, it’s worth noting that history has witnessed only one lethal case related to this reason.
