Ford is widely recognized as a famous automobile manufacturer, but very few people know that the company actively invests in developing technologies that have nothing to do with the automotive industry. The company recently presented a high tech bed.
This new product didn’t come as a surprise: the firm had previously worked on infant carriers enabling children to fall asleep faster, thanks to built-in technology simulating a car ride. Their latest invention is intended for an adult audience. Many couples have trouble sleeping when one person invades the other half of the bed at night. Ford’s bed will solve this problem for good.
Experts working on the prototype employed a technology widely used in the automotive industry - lane keeping. When an inattentive driver drifts out of their lane, the system tilts the car’s wheels, adjusting their course. The smart bed works on the same principle.
The bed’s base features a conveyor belt that tilts the mattress to the side whenever one partner ‘invades’ the other’s space. Thus, the overactive sleeping partner returns to their side of the bed. Meanwhile, the bed operates smoothly enough not to wake either partner.
There is no news as to when the bed will be available in stores.
