The International Air Transport Association (IATA) have approved British Airways proposed use of digital tags to track luggage.
The process of checking in luggage can lead to long queues and a tedious wait at check-in desks. Whether you are travelling for business or pleasure, this can take away the joy of flying. British Airways are launching digital tags, to be called View Tags which are attached to luggage prior to arrival at the airport, with the aim of eliminating long queues.
The ViewTags are small electronic stickers featuring radio frequency transmission functionality, Bluetooth and a digital screen displaying flight information. ViewTags are designed for multiple uses of (up to 3,000 times). The information they hold is transmitted through the application on the passenger’s smartphone.
This will help passengers avoid queues and help to track their luggage location. Digital tags will sell for £63 (approximately $80), but the price will soon go up to £80. They can be used in 63 countries throughout the world.
