The team at Chinese startup DeepSeek has announced on social media X that they will open five source code repositories containing stored and maintained data.
This initiative aims to promote complete transparency in their technology. The open repositories will also enable users to contribute to software development, share their innovations, and enhance the application. According to the company, “As members of the OSS developer community, we believe every line of code we share will function as a collective spark, driving the advancement of AI.”
In the past, American companies accused the DeepSeek startup of privacy infringements due to criticism of its neural network for exposing users' chat histories, which were publicly accessible. Investigations revealed that DeepSeek had failed to protect approximately one million lines of data. Experts and developers concluded that using AI without adhering to security measures poses significant risks. Consequently, its application has been banned in several countries, including Italy, Australia, South Korea, and others.
