The level of facial expressions and bodily movements digitalization has reached such a high level that it does not need any subsequent manual adjustment.
Cubic Motion has recently presented its proprietary motion capture technology. It allows you to create and remotely control virtual copies of people.
The software presentation was spectacular. The digital character created as part of it read out the opening speech. What happened next was utterly incredible: a computer avatar that everybody thought was just a regular program, started speaking with the audience and comment their remarks.
As it turned out later, it was done by an actor in the next room, whose facial expressions were instantly traced and digitized by the program. This process used to take a lot of time and required human involvement. Now, the process is automated and as fast as never before.
The technology will definitely find application in cinematography and gaming industry. The danger is that such technologies could be used to discredit people and create fake news. As you can see, the digital character created can hardly be told from the real one.
