eBay online retailer has implemented AR into its recent update for Android. Augmented reality will help sellers choose the right size of the delivery box.
All you have to do to check out this new function is to go to selling section in the application and click on the button "What kind of box?" The app will ask to plae the good on a matte flat surface, such as a table or floor. When you point your phone at the item to be sent to the buyer, the program will offer various packages. It remains only to choose the right one, leaving room for a soft seal. And you can look at the good with a box attached to it from different side of view in order to choose the right option.
Now sellers do not have to go to the post office and pick up a suitable box. Also, you do not need to use an excessive amount of bubble wrap to fill the cavities. It's enough just to specify which package to use. In addition, you can calculate the cost of packaging and delivery in real time.
eBay was one of the first to use the new ARCore Augmented Reality platform from Google. ARCore is the answer to Apple's ARKit technology. Version 1.0, released in February, is available for more than 100 million devices. So far, ARCore runs only on Android, and the iOS version is under development.
It seems that the functionality of augmented reality is not only a technology for entertainment anymore and is now being introduced into really useful products. For example, Art.comv, an online store for paintings and posters recently updated its application with the opportunity to choose a picture for the interior.
