In the United States, the creation of the Century Academy of Gaming and eSports (CAGE) wants to develop professional e-sports athletes out of gamers.
The popularity of video games is growing, and in days gone by, you could relax behind the monitor, today you could also make money from your hobby. Sociological study shows that more and more people are thinking about a career as a cyber sportsperson, which is good news for organisations like CAGE.
CAGE is an entirely new format that teaches amateur cyber sports enthusiasts how to monetise their skills. CAGE believes that the main problem for gamers is a lack of knowledge about the business. They are going to fill in the gaps.
There are many ways to make money in the field of video games. Participation in competitions, online broadcasts, or even the career of a professional commentator - all this hypothetically can bring in a lot of money. The only question is how to stand out among the crowd against other competitors. To achieve success in any of these areas, it's not enough to understand computer games - you need to be able to work with people, understand how business works planning, promotion, etc.
Now CAGE is in full swing developing a training program and is already recruiting their first students. There are four directions: player, coach, streamer and announcer. But this is not a fully comprehensive final list, and we may soon learn about new specialisations in this recently developing industry.
