Well-known blogger Tom Scott has posted a new video in which he plays with a laser beam with his bare hands. Surprisingly, the video was recorded with practically no video effects.
For the spectacular video, Scott needed very little: a simple laser setup, safety glasses, and an assistant named Seb Lee-Delayle. Even the participants in the video joke that the laser system could incinerate Scott, but in fact, it’s safe. Despite the brightness of the beam, it doesn't harm the health of a human, except being dangerous to the eyes.
The laser beam moves at the speed of light. To prove this, the guys had to use a 'rolling shutter' and other simple optical effects that can be performed even on a physical lens. As a result, Scott discovered how to catch the laser beam with his own hands, stop it and displayed even more spectacular tricks, which you can view in the video below. It also demonstrates some of the distinctions of the laser device.
