YouTube has announced the beginning of cooperation with the ticketing service Ticketmaster. Now you can find information about upcoming concerts and links to purchase tickets below the video clips of your favorite artists. This video hosting team, owned by Google, wrote in their blog.
By integrating the functions of Ticketmaster into the YouTube interface, the company expects to motivate the performers and their fans to work more closely together. Now the musicians will have a more convenient tool for monetizing their work and listeners will be aware of the nearest live concerts and will be able to buy tickets in time.
At the moment, ticket sales are available only for performers who have tours in the US. It is still in the experimental phase. In the future, the service will be available for musicians performing around the world. YouTube has hinted that this is only a part of the upcoming changes to its service for artists and their fans.
The new function includes information about the upcoming performance and upcoming dates of the tour. Next to the information about the event is a link to the Ticketmaster website. You can buy a ticket by clicking on it. The update works on both the website and on mobile applications, but the design is slightly different on each platform.
YouTube said that they have already experimented with different options for ticket sales and have chosen to integrate with Ticketmaster's service.
Video hosting will probably receive a certain share of the profit from the ticket sales but no details of the deal have been disclosed.
Ticketmaster doesn't only collaborate with YouTube. Previously, the company integrated ticket sales into the streaming service Spotify and also sells tickets via Facebook.
