The largest firework in history was recently launched in Steamboat Springs (Colorado, USA). Weighing in at 1270 kg, this firework beat last year’s record by 182 kg.
Until recently, a firework launched in the UAE in the winter of 2018 had been considered the most massive firework in history. It had a weight of 1088 kg, and the event made it into the book of Guinness World Records. On February 10, 2019, there was an attempt to beat this record, but the attempt was unsuccessful: the firework with a weight of 1134 was never lifted off the ground, exploding inside the launch system.
Nevertheless, the team of pyrotechnical experts led by Tim Borden did not give up and finally managed to beat the record in 2020. The firework was launched to celebrate the annual winter festival in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. The firework exploded at a height of 670 meters and lit up the entire county. Its weight was recorded as 1270 kg.
The team was presented with a certificate from Guinness World Records representative Christina Conlon. She acknowledged the tenacity exhibited by Tim Borden’s team and admired the beauty of their firework. You can also enjoy the spectacle in the video below.
