The PAL-V Liberty vehicle has obtained the necessary certification, earning the right to travel on European roads.

The Liberty from the Dutch company PAL-V is a three-wheeled car capable of transforming into a gyrocopter within two minutes. In many ways, the design of the vehicle was driven by necessity, because a three-wheeled vehicle is a lot easier to register.

PAL-V takes the form of a gyrocopter utilising the power of two engines. The dual-propulsion powertrain uses one engine for driving and another for flying. When driven like a car. Liberty can reach 100km/h and is powered by its 100-hp engine. To be able to fly it makes the most of its additional 200-hp engine and two propellers enabling the vehicle to turn into a gyrocopter.

The 100-litre fuel tank is enough for 3.5 hours of flying, covering up to 500 km. Travelling on ordinary roads, Liberty can be driven up to 1,300 km until you need to refuel. Currently, the manufacturer plans to obtain flight certification as well. To do this, Liberty requires 150-hours of flight time. This process should be completed by 2022.
