The aircraft is capable of carrying up to 250 kg of payload, but the developers have not yet disclosed the maximum flight range.
The British company Vertical Aerospace has run the first test of the Seraph air cargo taxi with a payload of 250 kg. The 12-rotor aircraft can move at speeds of up to 80 km/h.
The developers emphasize that Seraph boasts the biggest payload capacity among similar drones. However, its range and endurance are not yet disclosed. The innovation is primarily designed for urban conditions. Vertical Aerospace expects Seraph to become the main vehicle in setting up an air travel network in cities.
Seraph has 12 rotors mounted on six arms. The battery and most of the electronics are apparently located in the roof, allowing air flow to cool the battery and electronics.
So far, the developers have not commented on the flight range and how well the model will fare in bad weather conditions, which are not uncommon in the UK.
It is known that the company is working on another model intended for passenger travel.
