Giant Food Stores has started purchasing Marty robots from Brain Corp to entertain customers and attract new ones. They will also help shoppers to find where each product they need is located.
The company will purchase a total 172 devices to be deployed only in four states so far. But if the experience is successful, the practice will be replicated across the entire USA. About 300 Martys will do similar jobs at Martin and Stop & Shop supermarkets. The devices don’t have manipulators, so they cannot do physical work; they will collect statistics and help customers.
Martys will also come in handy in any force majeure, for example, they will alert customers to hazards or help find a lost child.
The trial runs have been completed and the curiosity has got a positive response from customers: they watched with interest the devices move around but were in no hurry to actively use them.
