This week scientists from Columbia University (USA) have distinguished themselves by creating a program for synthesizing human speech based on "reading" thoughts.
Neurobiologists proved long ago that brain activity can be fixed with the help of special equipment. Moreover, depending on the thoughts of a person, his moods and states can be seen when different parts of the cortex are active. As people learn to read and correctly interpret these patterns, we will be able to understand each other without words.
Significant advancement in this area was made by scientists from the United States who were able to structure brain signals and trained a computer program to read and reproduce people’s thoughts in an ordinary voice. According to researchers, this technology will be useful when creating new communication systems.
It is worth noting that this development is not the only one of its kind: many scientists around the world are engaged in similar research. Previously, a similar device was created by researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Also scientists from Japan have been successful in studying brain activity.
