According to a report released on July 30th by InvestGame, the first half of this year has seen significant investments in blockchain gaming companies.
Overall, they have raised $476 million, which accounts for 10% of investments in the gaming industry. Three game developers managed to secure 75% of the cash injections, while the remainder of the money was divided between another 21 market players. Forte seems to have attracted the most funds: it has invested $185 million in its crypto-gaming platform. The major donor being Griffin Gaming Partners.
In second place leading the investment round was the developer Sandbox Animoca which got $88,888,888 in investment from Kingsway Capital. Finally, the Los Angeles start-up Mythical Games similarly distinguished itself by raising $75 million with partial funding from Westcap.
Blockchain games continue to be a niche form of entertainment with a high entry threshold. Although, the dynamics demonstrated by the industry suggests that this field has a great future ahead of it.
