Hankook is working alongside Korean and American scientists to develop unique transformable wheels. An origami technique has considerably helped them.

The wheels are like the famous origami model "water bomb" in pattern, shape, and function. The most significant feature is that the wheel's diameter can change from 46 to 80 cm to support a car's weight. The company has spent nearly ten years developing the wheels.

The wheel comprises several layers of a flexible membrane with aluminium inserts and locking plates, which deliver the wheels firmness. In the original position, the wheel folds, although it expands to its maximum size when carrying a load.
