The company presented two 4 x 4 models that will be released under the Lincoln brand.
According to developers working for a startup called Rivian, their batteries are much more efficient than the ones used by Tesla. Ford has decided to prove this by using the platform developed by Rivian to power their new Lincoln electric SUV.
Like all major automotive manufacturers, Ford is gradually shifting its focus to electric vehicles. The company has already introduced a Mustang electric car, and now they have also announced a Lincoln electric SUV. The new electric vehicle will be based on a platform developed by Rivian, a startup that attracted $500 million worth of investment from Ford.
The company was compelled to invest in Rivian due to their interest in the startup’s adjustable platform, which includes batteries, electric engines, vehicle controls, and suspension.
Two Lincoln electric vehicles are currently in the works. Their compact SUV will be released in 2022, followed by a midsize model in 2023.
