Facebook is continuing to tighten the rules of advertising on its site. This time, the social network decided not to provide advertising services to companies associated with crypto-currencies and ICO's.

The reason for this decision was that the social network does not want financial instruments that often are associated with fraud. The advertising policy of Facebook is based on the fact that advertisements should be safe and that the social network works primarily for people.

The ban also applies to advertising on Audience Network and Instagram, which belong to the company.

Any advertising on the topic of crypto-currency falls under the restrictions, regardless of whether it's from fraudsters or honest companies. Facebook said that they have not yet developed an algorithm for detecting and blocking suspicious ads, but added that programmers are already working on it.

The company is encouraging users to inform their moderators if there is an advertisement which breaks the new rules.

Interestingly, Mark Zuckerberg recently noted the importance of crypto-currencies as a new trend and said that they return to people the power over their assets. But as of now, the company will continue to study their pros and cons so they can better use their services in the future.

Among other recent change with Facebook advertising is the reduction of advertising content in the users' news feed in favor of news from family and friends.

The number of social network users has already reached 2 billion worldwide. Zuckerberg has stated that one of the company's goals is to increase the number of internet users to 5 billion by 2030. Increasingly, social networks are being criticized for being too important in people's lives. Perhaps tightening the rules will help limit users from fraudulent projects. In addition, Facebook is probably not the best place to learn about crypto-currencies.
