Despite serious difficulties with the production of Model 3, Tesla produced a record number of electric vehicles this year: over 100,000. Investor and customer confidence was supported by a presentation in which Ilon Mask introduced the Semi-Truck and the Roadster. Now the head of the company wants to create an electric pickup, a concept which he has had for the past 5 years. The company is already working on the design and the main elements of the electric vehicle. Musk wrote about this on his Twitter.

The electric pickup concept was introduced at the Fall presentation: the car will look like a smaller Tesla Semi-truck. Musk said that the dimensions of the pickup will be similar to the Ford F150. Many people probably consider the design to be not so great and have not taken Musk's plans seriously as of yet. Tesla will release the pickup truck after the Model Y crossover, which will be built on the Model 3's base. Exactly when the Model Y comes off the assembly line it is not yet known. According to some sources, this will happen in the middle of 2019. The release of all other models will probably be affected by how quickly and efficiently the company can deal with the problems of automating the assembly of electric vehicles. One of the most time-consuming production stages is the assembly of batteries at Gigafactory 1 in Nevada. For the time being, manual labor is partially used in the assembly of its cars. Tesla recently bought the company Perbix which had supplied parts to them for several years. This step will optimize the assembly process and will help them to achieve full production automation.
