The central roles are assigned to the Handle and AMR robots, that quickly move around the room, performing duties assigned to them.
The Handle robot from Boston Dynamics was created in 2019 as a prototype for a new generation of warehouse machines. It can handle loading and unloading boxes weighing up to 15 kg all on its own. The speed of the robot is about 11 km / h, per hour enabling it to load 360 boxes in one hour.
Not so long ago, the robot was modernised, so now it has 2D, and 3D vision and can accurately determine its location, quickly identifying its cargo.
The video below shows how the robot performs its functions. Its assistant is the AMR robot from OTTO Motors. Together they can significantly optimise the operations in warehouses, freeing up human resources for less demanding work.
The companies plan to continue their collaboration, next time we’ll see Handle and AMR robots at the Modex 2020 exhibition, which will be held from March 9th to 12th in Atlanta.
