The new OS has been developed by CloudMosa. The software is currently used on budget smartphones Nokia 1 and Redmi Go.
iOS and Android seem to be getting a new competitor soon. It will be Puffin cloud operating system being developed by CloudMosa. The development is financed with donations. As of today, the $31 million target has already been achieved: the company was able to raise $38 million.
Avatar is the technology from CloudMosa enabling any program to be presented as a web application in HTML5, CSS3 and Javascript languages. Such an approach enables any website to be presented as an application running on Puffin OS. They do not take up any memory space. The new OS should make an excellent solution for smartphones in the lower price segment: wide use of cloud technology helps minimize insufficient capacity of devices.
According to the developers, their “child” will become a much faster and better performing alternative to Android. Like its main competitor, Puffin OS is based on the open source code. Among the innovation’s disadvantages are user dependence on the stability of the company's servers and almost constant need for Internet connection.
