The vehicle designed by Klein Vision company recently flew from Nitra airport to Bratislava. The whole trip took about thirty-five minutes.
At first glance, AirCar looks like any other racing car. But then, one push of a button transforms the car into an aeroplane. In just three minutes, it extends its tail, and the wings unfold, spreading out at the sides.
The vehicle has successfully passed rigorous tests under the supervision of the Civil Aviation Authority. AirCar had to climb to an altitude of 2.5-kilometre, practise U-turns and reach a top speed of 190 km/h.
The car-aircraft vehicle is constructed from advanced composite materials and equipped with a parachute in case of emergency. The car is driven by a 160 hp BMW engine, and a propeller in the tail.
