Thanks to more advanced motor control, the Model S will receive an additional 50 horsepower.
Tesla developers are preparing a Model S firmware upgrade, which should add 50 horsepower to the electric car. This will allow the Model S to beat the speed record set by the Porsche Taycan Turbo S.
When the companies decided to compare the speed of their cars on a real track, the Taycan showed better results, despite the fact that it went off a little later, and the Model S should have won by technical characteristics.
Some people think that the reason lies in the specific nature of the selected track. However, Elon Musk said that the Model S is able to beat the Taycan, but in order for it to do so, they need to update the on-board computer software. The new firmware version should increase power capacity by 50 horsepower.
In the update, software engineers will improve the system that controls the electric motor drive. In addition to the Model S, the update will also affect the Model X and the Model 3 performance.
