THETA is a platform whose purpose is to create a global system for the exchange of streaming video (livestream), including VR video.

Theta supports a set of specialized smart contracts that will help to facilitate the collection and distribution of awards between customers in a distributed streaming and entertainment ecosystem.

Theta Tokens are used as incentives for users who can share their excess computing resources and bandwidth resources as caching nodes for video streams.

The network, compatible with ERC20, was integrated into SLIVER.tv in December of 2017. The project's site, SLIVER.tv, was built in 2015 according to their road map. Today SLIVER.tv is the leading platform for streaming video playback in real time with more than five million unique visitors in March of 2018.

The road map of the project outlined its long-term goals. All of the goals indicated in the roadmap have been fulfilled by the dates specified.

The design of the project's site is pleasing to the eye and meets the modern criteria of web design, there are no mistakes and you can see that excellent work was done on the site.

Team

The team listed in the whitepaper is divided into 2 groups – Leadership and Blockchain Team, without any links to social media profiles. One of the leaders is Jieyi Long, who has a Ph.D in engineering from Peking University, is the co-founder and technical director of the project. He developed and patented several technologies, including streaming VR video, as well as instant replays for video games.

There is no information about the development team except for their names.

Tokenization

The total volume of issued tokens is 1 billion THETA, including 630,000 tokens that are already in circulation. Only strategic partners participated at the pre-sale stage (Q3 2017), which included Sony and Samsung. The price of a THETA token at the ICO stage, which took place on January 4th, 2018, was 0.12 USD.

Conclusion

Theta has been functioning for several years already, which is a good sign for blockchain projects. Moreover, they have already launched their livestream platform which is visited by thousands of users daily. The project inspires confidence, despite incomplete profile's of the developers.
