Cheil Worldwide, a subsidiary of South Korean giant Samsung, has presented a development built to increase safety in residential, commercial and other buildings: Firevase, a throwable fire extinguisher.
Over the past year, several major fires have devastated South Korea, claiming the lives of many citizens. The most tragic one happened in a small hospital at the south of the country, killing 37 people. There is a simple explanation for this fire and many others like it: an absence of nearby fire extinguishers.
In 2017, Samsung conducted a statistical study, discovering that more than half of households don’t own a fire extinguisher. The company took this problem seriously, and as a result their subsidiary released the domestic fire extinguisher Firevase.
On the outside, Firevase looks exactly like a regular flower vase, but its interior contains Purple-K: a dry fire-extinguishing chemical compound. As soon as you notice a fire, you can throw the vase into it, and the flames are extinguished as soon as the vase shatters. The company is currently actively engaged in promoting the product on the domestic market.
