Users will be able to create their own guides showing historical buildings, institutions and other facilities.
The new Google Maps feature will allow users to set their own routes and create local guides. In particular, historical buildings, streets and various public facilities can be combined into one route.
Such guides will provide users with recommendations from local residents, such as places to go and the best routes to take. Local guides can be followed directly in the application.
The test launch of the new feature will be conducted in nine cities: Bangkok, New Delhi, London, Mexico City, New York, Osaka, San Francisco, Sao Paulo and Tokyo.
Google is continuously improving its maps. For example, its developers have recently added augmented reality support to the application. The AR-functionality is currently in beta testing stage and is available for Google Pixel smartphones and company developers.
