The experimental system called Project Starline will try to make the whole experience of video chatting as similar to live communication as possible.
So far, the project is far from productised ation, so there is little information about it. However, we do know that the system will consist of several cameras, sensors, and a large display. This tech will be used to visualise 3D models of the two people talking to each other and properly relay their speech. Thanks to this, a call made via the Project Starline system will resemble a conversation through a glass partition.
Right now, the chatting system has been installed in only a few offices of the company, but demo samples should appear by the end of the year. It will be quite difficult to scale this technology. For the first little while, it will be most likely available only to corporate users. It is still unknown when exactly Project Starline will hit the market.
