This has become possible thanks to innovative Terraplanter technology developed by the eponymously titled American startup, of the same name.
In New York, they’ve learnt how to grow plants without using soil. The pivotal element is ceramic vessels with porous walls, which are necessary to retain the seeds and roots of the buds - a job that soil performs under natural conditions.
Also, the support of the inside walls of the vessels is needed to feed the plants with valuable minerals in the liquid-filled tank. Thanks to this system, plants require significantly less maintenance, and they get as much moisture as they need.
Currently, the project is raising funds on the Kickstarter crowdfunding site. So far, they’ve raised around $5 million. You can buy a home garden for $59, and Terraplanter have promised to start deliveries from October this year.
