Alphabet Inc. owing Google and YouTube made some changes in its advertising policy and will not advertise any cryptocurrencies, ICO and all connected to it anymore. The company representatives stated this decision is related to high risks of such financial products.  Alphabet wants to make advertisement safer and more efficient.

Crypto-exchanges, ICO projects and other companies working with cryptocurrencies and binary options will not be able to advertise starting from June 2018.

Google announced in its blog that 3,2 billions ads were banned on the platform last year due to violation of company policy. This  figure has almost doubled compared to 2016. Advertising contained links to malicious sites offering to install unwanted software. 90 000 sites and 700 000 mobile applications fell into Google blacklist.

Scott Spencer, Google advertising director means the removal of malicious and obtrusive ads remains the company priority.

Alphabetis generally concerned about the dissemination of inaccurate information. In particular YouTube will place now under conspiracy videos Wikipedia excerpts on the relevant topic. For instance if a video tells about the theory of the “lunar conspiracy” or deny the existence of HIV/AIDs the video hosting will post a link with Wikipedia articles stating experts opinion concerning these theories.

Facebook made tougher its advertising policy in January 2018. The company believes cryptocurrencies and ICO are often associated with fraud. The ban on cryptocurrencies advertisement is valid in Facebook, Instagram and Audience Network.
