Samourai Wallet developers have created an application called Pony Direct allowing to send Bitcoins via standers SMS. The main idea of this development is to avoid censorship by state regulators.

Samourai developers have faced the issue of characters number in a message while realizing the idea. Each message can contain no more than 160 characters, so several messages are sent for one transaction, and the application collects information into a single request. An identifier is assigned to a group of messages and each message includes it. First message provides with the information about the total number of messages in the series, the hash identifier and part of the actual hex transaction. Each message in the group has its own sequence number.

When the recipient application receives the expected number of messages, all transaction data is combined and transferred to the Bitcoin network.

Pony Direct is available in the repository on GitHub. The developers gave up copyright and transferred the application to the public domain on Unlicense terms.

Pony Direct creators say that the new development is one of the research and development components of Samourai Wallet, aimed at fighting censorship. All company's products are designed for the Android platform so far, but it is planned to release  a wallet for iOS in 2018.

Samourai development team has recently presented a solution for dealing with stalled transactions called Bitcoin Afterburner. Using this new tool you can speed up transactions taking longer time due to low commissions.
