Social networks make major efforts to remove offensive materials from their platforms, as well as content containing acts of cruelty and violence. Representatives of American film business believe that in this context developers’ efforts to combat piracy leave much to be desired, although the technologies for identifying pirated content work in a similar manner.

Right holders complain that social network owners do not pay due attention to their problem, of which they constantly remind them. Apparently, what causes the greatest discontent among them is that companies are much more active in addressing issues, such as fake news, violence and hatred.

Film companies believe that pirated content can be detected using the same tools that help identify other prohibited types of publications. However, the difficulty is that social networks will have to identify right holders’ accounts in order not to remove publications with their own content.
