Researchers from the University of Basel have come up with a new way to fight cancer. After carefully studying cancerous cells, these scientists made a discovery that could become the key to fighting this disease. As it turns out, growth of mutated cells can be influenced by turning them into fat cells. This can diminish harmful influence of cancer on the body and make it more receptive to treatment.

Plasticity makes fighting tumors difficult. Diseased cells from time to time detach within the body, enter the bloodstream and reach a different body part infecting it and making chemotherapy ineffective. The new medication affects cancerous cells in their transitional phase turning them into ordinary fat cells. This medication can produce good results in combination with other treatment methods.

However simply turning cancerous tumors into fat tissue at this stage is impossible. This new treatment method helps attack cells when they are at their most vulnerable state. But this recent discovery made in Basel is a sign of a new stage in creating an effective way to fight this awful disease.
